Sri Lanka travel expense on day 15 went up substantially not just because I paid the room rent for three days but also because I made use of tuk tuk to go to Rawana Falls and ate my lunch and dinner at two of the more expensive restaurants in Ella, that being my last day in Ella and I wanted to spoil myself. Also I spent Rs.600 or $4.65 to buy the second class train ticket to Colombo for the next morning.
Although the total spend for the day, $68, wasn’t the most expensive day I’ve had in Sri Lanka, even then I saved money on this day on at least three occasions, the most prominent being that I haggled with the tuk tuk driver who wanted something like Rs.1000 for the ride.
So the expenses for the day could easily have been $80 or even $100 had I not consciously put a brake on things.
